THE CYPRI CAT
This revolutionary-looking boilie gun looks more like something out of an action movie than something to use for carp fishing! It's unlike anything I've seen before and it's likely to cause to some interest. In essence it's a catapult mounted
on a runner, not unlike a crossbow system, and comes complete with pistol-like grip. The high power elastics are held inside a framework, and at the other end is a bait cup which can handle boilies from 14mm to 24mm; this is attached to a finger pull. The bait cup runs along a shaft which has an adjustable distance stop, allowing boilies to be fired to a set range. The makers claim that accurate bait placement up to a distance of 100 yards can be achieved and that a target area of approximately 1 square metre can be hit.
I tried the Cypri cat out at a lake that was ice free in one area. Boilies certainly can be fired a long way and with reasonable precision, but as always you have to use perfectly round baits to get the best possible accuracy. A good point about the cup and finger pull assembly is that there's no way baits can be pinched and misshapen.
Once a bait has been fired the cup cleverly returns to the loading position for rapid firing. The Cypri cat does away with strained muscles or rapped knuckles, though I did find the two fingers that repeatedly pulled the finger tag tingled after a little while.
The Cypri cat is available at all good tackle shops or direct from Ezfeeda., price £49.99.
Carp-Talk comment: Certainly different from you 're normal catapult - it's a well made product that because of very fact that it looks different and rather impressive, might do well. Range and accuracy is up to scratch, but you must use properly round boilies. Worth checking out.
